What You'll Do:

As a Assistant Director of Nursing, you will carry out our Mission of Love by providing supervision and guidance to Nurse Managers as well as resident assessment and completion of all associated paperwork required by state and federal regulations governing the resident assessment process. Be knowledgeable in data collection, data analysis methodology, and performance improvement methods needed to support and lead performance improvement projects.

Our Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the following:

  • Work closely with assigned Nurse Managers to assure DOH compliance is maintained on those assigned neighborhoods. Communicate regularly with DON keeping her informed of activities, progress, and challenges on those assigned neighborhoods. Participates in surveys conducted by authorized agencies (DOH, Life Safety, etc.)

  • Attends neighborhood stand up meetings to discuss changes in condition and significant events. Attends continuing education programs. Attends/facilitates staff meetings when needed to provide education.

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative communications with residents, their responsible parties, the Director of Nursing, other health care professionals and facility departments.

  • Collaborates with Nursing Leadership team, other managers and Human Resources personnel regarding nursing staff recruitment, interviews, and prospective employees and participates in the selection process. Disciplines or recommends termination of employment of nursing personnel from their area of responsibility/assigned neighborhoods. Assists with the interview process of internal candidates for open positions through our formalized selection process.

  • Review overtime and absenteeism at least monthly on assigned neighborhoods.

  • Attend and guide staffing stand up as scheduled, assure neighborhoods are staffed at budgeted numbers.

  • Creates and updates resident specific care plans as applicable/as needed. Reviews electronic resident incident reports for thoroughness, trends, education needs, quality assurance/process improvement potential.

  • Serves as nursing administration person on-call periodically. In this capacity, responds to urgent and nursing administrative matters. Assures an appropriate response time when on-call. Function in an administrative capacity in the absence of the Director of Nursing as assigned. Fulfills the roles of Nurse Manager of nursing staff as needed in staffing shortage situations.

  • Participates in quality assurance/performance improvement committees and initiatives as assigned. Takes an active role in identifying, facilitating and evaluating performance improvement projects (PIPs).

  • Using the computer system, communicates necessary information to team members.

  • Practices fiscal responsibility in the use of supplies, equipment and time management.

  • Performs direct resident care during emergent situations.

What You Have:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required (Registered Nurse). Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the PA State Board of Nursing required.
  • Two years geriatric experience preferred.
  • CPR certification (prior to or upon employment).
  • Previous experience with the Restorative Nursing Program process preferred.
  • Current knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to long term care facilities preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge and typing skills preferred.
  • Attention to detail and high degree to accuracy required.
  • Are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or willing to become fully vaccinated upon hire. Masonic Villages will review and consider medical and religious exemptions.
