What You'll Do:

As a Web Designer, you will carry out our Mission of Love by developing, updating, testing, documenting and securing the flow of responsive websites and online activities in support of the mission and goals of the Masonic Villages, its subsidiaries and clients; Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania; and Masonic Charities websites managed by the Public Relations Department. Responsible for working cooperatively with Public Relations, Marketing, Gift Planning, Information Technology and other various departments to develop and implement online marketing and communication strategies.

Our Web Designer is responsible for the following:

  • Demonstrates skills in web design (front-end and back-end design), writing and editing content, designs webpage layouts (Wordpress), determines technical requirements, updates websites daily, backs up files and solves coding problems. Applies fundamentals of design, multimedia design, content management, video/audio elements and multimedia technology. Considers user experience studies in navigation design.
  • Responsible for developing online marketing strategies and programs to increase participation with websites. Knowledgeable in marketing automation software.
  • Creates the design, implementation and analysis of paid digital marketing campaigns. Analyzes data and trends to capitalize on opportunities to further promote the organization leveraging Google analytics and similar tools.
  • Manages hosting, domains, search engine optimization and marketing, ecommerce, gateways and access and web server administration while meeting deadlines.
  • Assists with the evaluation of business needs to identify process gaps, document requirements, and select, obtain and implement solutions. Applies knowledge of current technologies and best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and growth. Builds search engine visibility. Tracks success of strategies with user data.
  • Serves as primary resource for management, development and maintenance of websites on a daily basis. Provides communications, recommendations and follow-up to appropriate department or entity responsible for the information or work request.
  • Works collaboratively with the Information Technology and Finance departments to ensure the utmost security of websites, domains, ecommerce and hosting. Cooperates with IT in evaluating and implementing new web-based software applications.
  • Coordinates with departments/entities and implements a plan for each website to achieve communication goals. Follows branding standards and design standards. Provides monthly analysis of engagement and online traffic. Develops strategies based on trends to increase reach.
  • Manages multiple projects effectively and accurately. Works cooperatively with Public Relations, Marketing, Gift Planning and other departments and entities to ensure daily content updates and changes meet standards for timeliness and quality. Generates innovative solutions and ideas that support the goals of each department/entity. Works with creative team to incorporate a combination of graphic, video and audio enhancements into each website within the branding guidelines of each entity.
  • Works with other web content writers to assure content adheres to search engine optimization strategy and editorial and marketing standards. Creates content or receives and edits content provided by others. Updates and expands information and interactivity of websites to attract new and repeat users.
  • Regularly analyzes, reviews and modifies sites to increase operational effectiveness and efficiency. Evaluates, troubleshoots and solves operating problems with websites. Carries out functions of a web master to monitor online activity and facilitate needs when the technical expertise or a CMS system is not present.
  • Participates in budgeting process.
  • Documents all procedures and credentials for tasks.
  • Communicates requirements and deadlines for larger projects through project management means in order to coordinate team contributions.

What You Have:

  • A minimum 2-year degree in a web design/ communication design-related field.

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience required. (8-10 years preferred)

  • Knowledge of CMS interfaces (WordPress, Shopify, Sharpspring) SEO and analytics, HTML 5/CSS3 languages and responsive design concepts, Marketing Automation and Adobe Photoshop. Videography and editing software (Adobe Premiere) a plus.
