Masonic Village at Elizabethtown is hiring a Assistant Farm Market/Orchard Manager. This is a Full Time Day opportunity which includes biweekly weekends most of the year.

What You'll Do:

As an Assistant Farm Market/Orchard Manager, you will carry out our Mission of Love by assisting the Farm Market/Orchard Manager in planning, coordination, and supervision of the staff, orchard crop production and management of farm market operations. Our Assistant Farm Market/Orchard Manager are responsible for the following:

  • Demonstrates leadership skills and technical competence to assist in all aspects of a productive fruit orchard and retail fruit/farm market.
  • Must be capable of working a flexible schedule, as workload requires.
  • Assist with required safety training and documentation, and adherence to food safety guidelines
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist in identifying opportunities, developing strategies and supervising staff to achieve optimum efficiency, service and customer satisfaction in both fruit production and retail sales.Assists in developing and establishing department goals, and implements policies and procedure for department operations including but not limited to, maximizing fruit production output, monitoring orchards for disease and pest issues, pesticide application, fruit storage, tree maintenance and replacement, coordinating equipment readiness and preventative maintenance, profitable retail sales and accurate record keeping, and assisting with campus wide snow removal.
  • Assists in selecting, orienting, training and scheduling the Orchard and Farm Market Assists in evaluating standards of performance and making recommendations for personnel actions.  Assists in resolving staff grievances.   Maintains good interdepartmental relationships.
  • Insures budget guidelines are followed.
  • Attends routine staff meetings to review safety and equipment operating procedures. Pursues opportunities to acquire continuing education credits through professional growth and development seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
  • Assists in coordinating service and staff support for special functions and activities as specified by Administration. 

What You Definitely Have:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of practical experience in commercial fruit production, or an agriculturally related field preferred
  • Two years of practical experience in marketing fruits and vegetables, or other agricultural commodities preferred.
  • Experience and ability to safely and efficiently operate a variety of farm equipment.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience required.
  • A valid PA Driver's License, with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL certification.
  • The ability to become a PA Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator. General experience with pesticide application preferred.
  • The ability to obtain a ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification.
  • Good written, organizational and basic computer skills.
